Research Podcast
The podcast I selected focuses on interpersonal relationships, more specifically it talks about how jealousy can poison the relationship. In our class we have talked about interpersonal relationships quite a bit as well. I will be writing what I learned from the podcast and I will write about how it relates to what I have learned in my class.
The name of the podcast I selected is called “The Poisonous affects of jealousy in your relationship.” I found this podcast on apple and you can see it by clicking this link. As stated this podcast focuses on how jealousy affects relationships. She says “jealousy is one of the biggest relationship destroyers.” (Isabella, 2019) And she states how protectiveness and jealousy in term of relationships are very different, mostly because jealousy is associated with destructive behaviors. When someone is full of jealousy they tend to act selfish and controlling, they also tend to jump to conclusions and assume things that just aren’t true. She says jealousy is connected to 3 symptoms, which are insecurities, fear, and low self esteem. The podcast says to get past the jealousy it takes patience and effective communication.
When looking back on my textbook for this class I see it says negative qualities in interpersonal relationships are “obsession that includes intense feelings and jealousy can create negative outcomes.”(p.123) The chapter I looked at did focus more on the positive aspect of relationships, but what they did have to say about the negative aspects does directly relate to what the podcast is sharing. If you don’t communicate effectively with your partner there will be conflict and misunderstanding.
